How do You Find the Balance Between Setting High Goals and Having Unrealistic Expectations?

Everyone is encouraged to set goals and have something to race for in order to stay motivated, right?  I agree that setting goals is an important step to success and helps you to stay focused.  We’re also encouraged to DREAM BIG, and I completely understand that when setting goals we need to stretch ourselves so that we can grow.  The goals should not be something we can easily attain, but rather something that presents a challenge.  But, how do we do avoid unrealistic expectations that will inevitably lead to disappoint and despair?

I think it’s important to realize that you have to crawl before you can walk.  You might have a huge goal like building a 6-figure residual income from home, but it’s important to set little goals along the way that will ultimately lead to the achievement of that BIG goal.  You have to take those baby steps!  When you do not achieve a particular goal, you have to just keep moving forward and learn from the challenge.  Resist the urge to throw yourself a pity party (we all have that urge from time to time) and set knew goals.  Keep moving forward!

So, I’d love to know how all of you find that balance.  How do you set challenging goals that will allow you to grow and stay focused towards success, while avoiding unrealistic expectations?

To Your Success,

Jennifer Blake
